About Child Care and Years
The Municipality of Chatham-Kent
Child Care and Early Years Division
In Chatham-Kent, the Child Care and Early Years Division is responsible for managing the child care system which consists of 13 Purchase of Service Operator head offices, 45 child care satellite locations totaling approximately 2,000 child care spaces for Infant, Toddler, Preschool (ELP), JK/SK and School Age children. This includes overseeing the Child Care Fee Subsidy program. Fee subsidies assist with the cost of child care which is available for eligible families. Parents who are deemed eligible through an income test can have their children attend child care at an affordable rate while they work, attend school, or address special circumstances in their lives.
Chatham-Kent's Child Care and Early Years Division provides funding to Community Partner Agencies to support the integration of children with extra needs into the child care system with the assistance of Support Workers and Special Needs Consultants.
The Child Care and Early Years Division manages the local EarlyON Child and Family Centres. These centres provide opportunities for children from birth to 6 years of age to participate in play and inquiry-based programs, and support parents and caregivers in their roles. EarlyON Child and Family Centres will offer safe and welcoming environments open to all families across Chatham-Kent, with qualified professionals and quality programs. Families and caregivers will be able to find support, advice, make personal connections and access a network of resources.
